Radio-Canada, in both its radio and television broadcasting, has flagged the arrival of a new on-line tool available to immigrants for finding work.

Until now, the majority of immigrants who have been here for less than five years, even those equipped with work experience and educational degrees gained abroad; have a much harder time finding work than others who have been here longer.

The crucial first step in finding work, it was noted, was simply to get one’s resume into a prospective employer’s hands. And now a new on-line service is being made available to immigrants to coach them how to do that.

Traditionally only immigrants with Canadian experience have been considered for a job interview. Skills for Change, a non-profit organization in Toronto, has capitalized on the experience of the inventor of this online service, Mr. Babak Niroumand, to promote the use of his coaching video among its clientele of new Canadians seeking work.

The video offers an important and strategic insight into the way in which employers screen the job applications that they receive. And up until now, new Canadians may have had little insight into the how employers here hire. This service now stands to change this for the better.
